Lies vs. Truth

The enemy lies…. You shouldn’t have been born.

God’s Truth… “This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart… ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Isaiah 44:24 NIV, Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11, NIV).

The enemy lies… No one loves or wants you.

God’s Truth … “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” (John 15:9 NIV, Jeremiah 31:3 NIV, Psalm 103:11 NIV, Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12 MSG).

The enemy lies… You are alone.

God’s Truth… “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 43:2, Zephaniah 3:17 NIV).

The enemy lies…I’ve gone too far from God’s grace

God’s Truth…  “Surely the Lord's power is enough to save you. He can hear you when you ask him for help. God's mercy is great, and he loved us very much. Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we did against God, he gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God's grace. And he raised us up with Christ and gave us a seat with him in the heavens. He did this for those in Christ Jesus so that for all future time he could show the very great riches of his grace by being kind to us in Christ Jesus. I mean that you have been saved by grace through believing. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He's set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating” (Isaiah 59:1 NCV, Ephesians 2:4-8 NCV, Colossians 1:13-14 MSG).

The enemy lies… No one understands.

God’s truth … “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 139:2 NIV, Psalm 103:13-14 NIV).

The enemy lies… There is no hope or help.

God’s truth… "My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. We wait in hope for the LORD, he is our help and our shield. Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him” (Psalm 33:20, 62:5, 121 NIV).

The enemy lies… You are unprotected

God’s truth… "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. The Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Proverbs 18:10, Psalm 32:7, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Psalm 91:4, Psalm 18:2 NIV).

You were formed and created by the God of the universe. In Christ, you are adopted, forgiven and thus free from condemnation, redeemed, restored, renewed, complete, and loved forever.

And, that's the God-given truth! :)

November 10, 2008

Sunday morning, I watched a little boy hurry to catch up with his daddy and grasp his hand. Immediately the boy’s tension seemed to ease, his step becoming more confident and sure.

How often do we long for the touch of our Heavenly Father’s hand, to let go of the worries of this world and walk in the protection of God’s love?

The words below capture the song of my heart.

Show me Father, how to walk in Your ways.

What can I do

Written by Lisa Bevill; Lisa Bevill Music © ASCAP 2007

Sometimes life is cruel

Sometimes life is good

The more I live the less I question

And know this to be true

That you are God alone

And I’m not in control

All my striving gets me nowhere

But right back where I start

And so I ask of You

What can I do to be more like you

And never worry about a thing

What can I do to love you more deeply

And let my heart sing

What can I do to see you more clearly

And push the world away

What can I do to be more like you

Let you have your way

What can I do?

Well I get lost sometimes

I just get tired of the fight

Lord, help me hear your voice

And make it crystal clear

Show me where you are

And I’ll go there, how far

Take me, awake me, give me your heart

So I can love like you

That’s what I ask of you

Love, help me to be the one with your heart

Fill me with passion and never let the fire burn out

That’s what I ask this of you

What can I do to be more like you

And never worry about a thing

What can I do to love you more deeply

And let my heart sing

What can I do to see you more clearly

And push the world away

What can I do to be more like you

Let you have your way

Oh, Lord have your way

What can I do?

What can I do to be like you?

Oh, what can I do?

Freedom in Christ

In the last few weeks, I've read "Victory Over Darkness" and "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil T. Anderson http://www.ficm.org/newsite/index.php?command=whoisfreedom. Both books are excellent, especially "The Bondage Breaker." At the back of that book are several steps to help in our freedom in Christ.

If you've read some of my background, you'll know several negative things have happened in my past. I thought I was free of that, but I also knew some blockage remained because I had stifled all corresponding emotion with some of those situations. I was not totally living in Christ’s Freedom as we are told in the scriptures.

“Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. You, my brothers, were called to be free. Now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (Romans 8:2, Galatians 5:1, 13, Col 1:22 NIV).

A dear friend of mine helped me walk through the steps and I was able to get to the “heart of the matter.” Oh my goodness, what a wonderful release to walk through every bit of the past, renounce any hold the enemy may have kept in those areas, and give them to God to totally experience His freedom! I would highly recommend buying "The Bondage Breaker."

Live free in Christ my dear friends!

Below are some of the truths found in the steps and in the book...

I renounce the lie that I am rejected, unloved, dirty or shameful because IN CHRIST I am completely accepted God says:

John 1:12                                I am God's child
John 15:15                              I am Christ's friend
Romans 5:1                             I have been justified
1 Corinthians 6:17                 I am united with the Lord and one with Him in spirit
1 Corinthians. 6:19, 20          I have been bought with a price--I belong to God
1 Corinthians 12:27               I am a member of Christ's body
Ephesians 1:1                        I am a saint, a holy one
Ephesians 1:5                         I have been adopted as God's child
Ephesians 2:18                       I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit
Colossians 1:14                      I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins
Colossians 2:10                      I am complete in Christ

I renounce the lie that I am guilty, unprotected, alone or abandoned because IN CHRIST I am totally secure. God says:

Romans 8:12                  I am free forever from condemnation
Romans 8:28                  I am assured that all things work together for good
Romans 8:31-34            I am free from any condemning charges against me
Romans 8:35-39            I cannot be separated from the love of God
2 Corinthians 1:21,22   I have been established, anointed, and sealed by God
Philippians 1:6              I am confident that the good work that God has begun in me will
be perfected

Philippians 3:20            I am a citizen of heaven

Colossians 3:3               I am hidden with Christ in God

2 Timothy 1:7                I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind
Hebrews 4:16                I can find grace and mercy in time of need
1 John 5:18                   I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me

I renounce the life that I am worthless, inadequate, helpless or hopeless because IN CHRIST I am deeply significant. God says:

Matthew 5:13,14   I am the salt and light of the earth
John 15:1,5          I am a branch of the true vine, Jesus, a channel of His life
John 15:16           I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit
Acts 1:8                I am a personal, Spirit-empowered witness of Christ's
1 Corinthians 3:16       I am a temple of God

2 Corinthians 5:17-21    I am a minister of reconciliation for God

2 Corinthians 6:1       I am God's co-worker
Ephesians 2:6          I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realm
Ephesians 2:10       I am God's workmanship created for good works

Ephesians 3:12       I may approach God with freedom and confidence
Philippians 4:13    I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

News articles, blogs, advertisements, and commercials bombard our nation touting the supposed answers to all our problems--if we will buy their product or vote for their favored candidate.

We won't find our answers in a political position, a person, or a product. Our only answer is found in God. He is the One where we should focus our eyes and our hearts. In Him we find the hope and solutions for us and our nation.

My husband remains unemployed for almost eleven months. My health continues to be a roller coaster ride, and uncertainty looms on all fronts. However, there is one constant, one fact that will never change--God is in control. His love is unfailing and He will watch over our life, both now and forevermore.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise You for who You are. I praise You for Your perfect love. I praise You that You watch over my every step. I praise You that my help comes from you. Oh Father, I love you. Keep my eyes focused squarely on You. Keep my heart beating for You and You alone.

Wonderful, merciful Father, please guide our nation and guide our lives, now and forevermore.

In the precious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is our Savior.

Amen

"I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore" (Psalm 121 NIV).

Hi Friends,

Life is interesting as usual in the Buffaloe household. My husband continues to job search, and the doors have remained closed. We’re on the tenth month of being out of work and are living off savings. Last week, we received our property tax bill which is rather large since Texas has no state tax.

The only healthy ones in our family are the dog and our sixteen-year-old. Know of any jobs for a Shih-Tzu and a teenager?

Regardless of how bleak the outlook, nothing can block God’s love, and nothing can keep us from the safety of His presence. We’re keeping our eyes on the Lord and praising Him through the storms.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35,37-39 NIV).

“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NIV).

"I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth" (Ps 121:1-2 NIV).

God heals. I know. He’s healed me from cancer, removed tumors, and kept me alive when doctor’s said I wouldn’t survive. And yet, I still wait for healing from Lyme disease.

I’m not alone. For those of us waiting for healing, Lisa Bevill wrote this song…

When the Healing Comes

By Lisa Bevill

I’m here before you Jesus on bended knee

Praying for an answer, that’s my plea.

Oh I’ve been crying for a healing that hasn’t come.

So I’ll just keep waiting for that day.

Oh… you’re so mysterious … that’s your way.

I know you’ve got it all figured out

For the angels to shout allelujah

So I’ll just keep on pressing in.. for your healing hand

And when the healing comes

Whether here and now or in the clouds

I’ll be loving you and my faith will stay.

Right here and I’ll hold on

Can’t nobody move me

I’ll be first in line when the healing comes

The healing comes down

So hold me Jesus till I make it through

Cause I need to see the sunshine and skies of blue

Oh I’ll be praying for the healing waters to wash my pain away

So I’ll just keep on pressing in you for your healing hand

And when the healing comes

Whether here or now, or in the clouds

I’ll be loving you and my faith will stay

Right here and I’ll hold on

Can’t nobody move me no

I’ll be first in line, when the healing comes

The healing comes down, I will hold on

Can’t nobody move me no

I’ll be first in line, when the healing comes

When the healing comes, healing comes down

Oh yeah, so I’ll just keep on pressing in

“Why do you need the nature of Christ within you? So you can be like Christ, not just act like Him. God has not given us the power to imitate Him. He has made us partakers of His nature so that we can actually be like Him. You don’t become a Christian by acting like one. You are not on a performance basis with God. He doesn’t say, ‘Here are My standards, now you measure up.’ He knows you can’t solve the problem of an old sinful self by simply improving your behavior. He must change your nature, give you an entirely new self—the life of Christ in you—which is the grace you need to measure up to His standards.” Neil T. Anderson

“We don’t serve God to gain His acceptance; we are accepted, so we serve God. We don’t follow Him to be loved; we are loved, so we follow Him. It is not what we do that determines who we are; it is who we are that determines what we do.” Neil T. Anderson

Woo Hoo! The Christian Pulse published another one of my articles today.

“Our little dog can’t wait to get out for his evening walk. He doesn’t care where he’s going—he just wants to get there as fast as possible. Pulling against his leash, he coughs and hacks his way down the sidewalk. Pull…cough….tug…. hack…. the pressure continues as he sniffs, paws, and explores the world….”

Howdy Friends!

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the North Texas Christian Writer’s conference this last weekend (www.ntchristianwriters.com). Met with new and old friends and learned many ways to make my writing better. And… my novel, Prodigal Nights, won second place! Woo hoo! Praising God! Congratulations to my friend Patricia Carroll for winning first place for her novel! http://www.patriciapacjaccarroll.com

Life continues to be interesting. Our washer died. I tried to update my husband’s computer which resulted in a fatal crash and the loss of most of the files on his computer. Today, sweet hubby has a job interview here in the area (Yay!), I’ll get a crown put on a tooth, our replacement washer should arrive, and then it’s wash like crazy and prepare for the next conference. I’ll leave Wednesday morning for the American Christian Fiction Writers conference in Minneapolis (www.acfw.com) and be there until Sunday afternoon.

With my writing, I feel like I’m learning but there is still so much to study. Some days, I write a sentence and think, wow, I’ve actually got something worth reading. Those are special times and definite God gifts. For the most part, I plug along praying and hoping that I can discover the craft of storytelling and of weaving words to bring the reader on a journey.

Thank you for coming by my Website, and thank you for being part of my journey. I promise to continue to work on my writing and with God’s help work on becoming a better me. Have a wonderful rest of the week! I’m praying for you.

Many blessings,

Lisa

Please remember to pray for the families and friends of those affected by the terrorist’s attacks on September 11th. Please also pray that Hurricane Ike will weaken before striking land. (I have friends and family members around the Houston area.)

Tomorrow and Saturday, I’ll be at the North Texas Christian Writers Conference. Please pray for my health and that God will grant me strength as I attend and help with the conference. Thank you.

Major praise, that I will be able to attend the conference this week. God is so good!

I’ll touch base with everyone soon.

Many blessings, my friends!

Today, I was dragging my tail. Felt far from God, desperate for His touch. My sweet husband has searched for a job for eight months. School starts in twelve days. Our life has been in one big waiting and holding pattern.

I know in the long run none of that matters. It doesn't matter if my husband gets a job today or months from now, I'll still love God. It doesn't matter if we have to sell our house—I'll still love God and serve Him.

Still, I wasn’t too ecstatic about the ideas.

A gentle voice nudged in my spirit... "Praise Me."

I'll be honest, I didn't jump right in. After a few minutes of hesitation, I got back on my computer and started playing praise songs. And of course, the goose bumps popped and His presence fell and I felt plugged back in.

Are we made to praise? Do we need praise like we need sleep and to eat? Is that part of what feeds our soul?

Psalm 33:1(NIV) Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

Psalm 92:1(NIV) It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

Psalm 147:1(NIV) Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

Psalm 147:1(NLT) Praise the Lord! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting!

Praising Him is fitting, good, delightful. and pleasant. Yes, we need to praise, and I’m starting right now!

Heavenly Father, thank You. Thank You for taking such good care of us while we wait. Thank You that You know the future and You have every answer. I'll praise You forever. I need You. I need Your presence. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

My friend, Jeremiah, and I message regularly to encourage one another. Jeremiah’s ministry is based in India, and his passion for Christ is contagious. The following is a quote he sent.

"Our Savior Jesus Christ shed His blood for us He has great concern, so let us say in this way…THE STATE OF THE WORLD IS OUR CONCERN, THE BIRTH OF CHRIST IS OUR CONFIDENCE, AND THE TRUTH OF THE MESSAGE IS OUR CONVICTION. Our concern is for entire world, our confidence and strength is in Him, with the truth of conviction when we deliver His divine truth there we see numerous convictions but not conclusions. Today we see many players but few prayers, today we see many feastings but few fasting, here I encourage you let us be like volcano, let us be ignited by bush fire as Moses was ignited by God at the mountain of Horeb. Our life span is so small whatever you and I do with the mustard seed of faith for the sake of kingdom of God, is preserved in the book eternal."

Amen, Jeremiah!

November 7, 2007, Christian fiction author Kristy Dykes was diagnosed with malignant brain cancer. On July 21, 2008, her husband, Milton, posted “My beloved is healed and is dancing on streets of gold. I will share soon about her glorious transition from my hand into the hands of her Lord and Savior. She is rejoicing with her mother, father, and dear loved ones in heaven.” Kristy Dykes, August 2, 1951 ~ July 21, 2008

I never had the honor of meeting Kristy, but through throughout her illness, she and her husband reported their journey. Their faithful testimony and love for God is amazing and precious. If you take the time to visit her site, you will not be disappointed.

“God loves you. Personally. Powerfully. Passionately.
Others have promised and failed.
But God has promised and succeeded.
He loves you with an unfailing love.
And his love—if you will let it—can fill you
and leave you with a love worth giving.”  Max Lucado
