“Lightning flashes and thunder rumbles. Tail down and wide-eyed, our little dog runs to my chair. He looks at me with puppy dog eyes as if to question why I don’t fix things and why I don’t stop the storms. Whispering words of comfort, I scoop him into my arms and cradle his shaking body." ….

Waiting for rescue
Severance dwindles, insurance is ending soon, it’s now 168 days into my sweet husband’s job outsourcing and we continue to wait. The waves of questions pummel as we pray, search for work, waiting for God to calm the storm.
The disciples understood this concept. Jesus sent them ahead to cross the lake early in the evening. Scholars estimate they struggled against a raging storm for close to nine hours. Their boat was mercilessly pounded by wind and rain and battered by waves. Every muscle on their bodies taxed to the limit as they struggled, rowed, and prayed for help.
“During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake” (Mt 14:25 NIV).
Though the storm rages, our Savior comes to rescue.
“But Jesus spoke to them at once. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said. ‘Take courage. I am here!’” (Mt 14:27 NLT).
Whatever your situation, no matter how high the waves, or how strong the winds, don’t be afraid, take courage, He is with you to rescue and save.
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Dt 31:8 NIV).

She sat on the side of the road, tears staining her cheeks, exhausted, alone, not a friend in the world. Oblivious to her agony, cars whizzed past stirring the heat. A few steps and it would all be over. The nightmares would end, her shattered heart would cease to beat, and the pain would end.
Rising to her feet she took a step forward. Where are you God? If you exist, why did you allow this never-ending suffering?
Feeling a presence, she stopped, looked, but she was alone. Always alone. And yet her legs wouldn’t move, glued to the gravel of the shoulder only a foot from the road. The whoosh of air with each car and truck whipped her hair, dust stinging her eyes.
She turned her head upward. “How can you know the pain I feel? Let me go!”
I love you.
The gentle voice shook to her inner core. Again she could see no one. But she knew what she heard. “If it’s you… if you’re real… tell me again.”
I love you.
Sobs wracked her body, and there by the side of the road, the words whether in her soul or audible told her she was loved. Loved by the God of the universe, who knows what it’s like to be abandoned, hated, humiliated, falsely accused, beaten, tortured, mocked, stripped of everything and everyone they loved on earth. In that moment she knew forever, He would never let her go.

Loren Cunningham in Daring to Live on the Edge writes, “Sometimes living by faith means waiting, giving Him (God) the opportunity to act. A farmer described it to me like this: God tells you to go out on a limb. Once you get out there, you hear a sound—Rrrh! Rrrh! Rrrh! You turn around, and there’s the devil with a chain saw, cutting off your limb. Bible faith is staying on the end of that limb and watching Satan continue to saw until the whole tree falls over with him in it and you stay aloft on the limb! That’s faith. It’s not faith in the tree, nor faith in the limb. It’s faith in the Word of God and faith in the One who stands behind His word.”

Hidden in His presence Last evening, during a time of prayer, I came across this verse. “For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock” (Ps 27:4-5 NLT) “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock” (Ps 27:5 NIV). The words soothe my soul, but when I dove deeper by looking through the Greek, Hebrew, and Webster’s 1828 dictionary definitions of key words, I was thrilled at the marvelous promises this verse gives. Keep safe – hide, conceal, store up, to be treasured, be cherished, to be stored up Hide – conceal, store up, to be treasured, be cherished, to be stored up Conceal – To withhold from sight, To conceal, and to heal; the primary sense is to strain, hold, stop, restrain, make fast or strong, To keep close or secret; to forbear to disclose; to withhold from utterance or declaration; as, to conceal ones thoughts or opinions. Trouble - The primary sense is to turn or to stir, to whirl about, as in L. turbo, turbinis, a whirlwind. Hence the sense of agitation, disturbance. Dwelling – covering, dwelling (of human or lion) Inhabiting; residing; sojourning; continuing with fixed attention. Habitation; place of residence; abode. Shelter – hiding place, secret place, shelter, covering, veil, secretly, in secret Sanctuary – A sacred place; particularly among the Israelites, the most retired part of the temple at Jerusalem, called the Holy of Holies, in which was kept the ark of the covenant, and into which no person was permitted to enter except the high priest, and that only once a year to intercede for the people. A place of protection; a sacred asylum. Hence a sanctuary-man is one that resorts to a sanctuary for protection. Shelter; protection. Tabernacle – home, dwelling place, a permanent dwelling Set high – raise up, present (an offering) Rock – a title of God, with a focus of stability, and possibly as a place of security and safety In Scripture, figuratively, defense; means of safety; protection; strength; asylum. Firmness; a firm or immovable foundation. The Lord is my rock. 2Sam. 22. Ps. 28. How precious that when trouble comes, our Heavenly Father cherishes and conceals us, and covers us in the secret place of His love. I’ve begged for healing for years. Even with prayer, faith healers, healing rooms, anointing with oil, constant and consistent prayer, repenting of anything and everything from my earliest thought patterns, and still the illness remains. I’d throw myself on the ground and have an all-out tizzy fit but I barely have energy to move. Goodness, getting down on the floor would be tough enough but moving my arms and legs with any gusto would probably send me into a coma. As much as I’ve hated some of the things that have happened to me, or the illness that continues to attack, I consistently find that God is enough. His word promises, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” He is the only one who truly knows how I feel, who understands, and the only one who can help me through each day. I need Him, regardless of how much longer this illness continues. I need Him whatever may come today or tomorrow. God is the answer, the truth, and the freedom that carries me through. Dear Heavenly Father, I need You. Thank You, that all I need is found in You. June 1, 2008 The band is playing again! Cyber-fireworks are exploding in the air!

How could one tiny tick cause so many problems? Chronic Lyme disease stinks. Six years of incorrect diagnosis left borreliosis bacteria firmly entrenched in my body causing a roller coaster ride of never-ending negative effects.
